Building a Stronger Preparedness Network
The Sumter County Healthcare Coalition brings together healthcare organizations, public health agencies, emergency management, public safety, and community partners to strengthen health and medical preparedness throughout Sumter County.
The coalition provides a forum for local partners to work together on preparedness planning, coordination, training, and resource sharing. By building strong relationships before an emergency occurs, Sumter County organizations are better positioned to communicate, coordinate, and support the community during disasters and other events that impact the health and medical system.
The coalition is part of the Tampa Bay Health & Medical Preparedness Coalition and supports a coordinated, whole community approach to emergency preparedness and response.

Strengthening Readiness Through Local Partnership
The Sumter County Healthcare Coalition works to enhance the county’s health and medical preparedness through collaboration, planning, training, exercises, and resource coordination.
The coalition focuses on building relationships and strengthening capabilities among local partners so that organizations are better prepared to communicate, coordinate, and support the community throughout an emergency.
A strong preparedness network depends on the participation of the entire community. By bringing together healthcare, public health, emergency management, public safety, and community partners, the coalition helps create a more coordinated and resilient response system for Sumter County.

The Sumter County Healthcare Coalition focuses on strengthening the local partnerships, capabilities, and resources that support preparedness and coordinated response throughout the county.
Healthcare Preparedness
Supporting healthcare and community partners as they identify preparedness needs and strengthen their ability to maintain essential services during emergencies.
Training & Exercises
Creating opportunities for partners to build knowledge, practice response capabilities, and strengthen relationships before an emergency occurs.
Planning & Coordination
Encouraging collaborative planning that helps local organizations understand responsibilities, improve communication, and coordinate their response during significant events.
Resource Coordination
Supporting communication and coordination around the resources, supplies, equipment, and capabilities needed to help Sumter County respond effectively when emergencies occur.
Training Supports Stronger Response
Preparedness is not a one time event. Ongoing education, collaboration, and practice help healthcare organizations respond faster, recover more effectively, and better protect their communities during emergencies.

Stronger Together Across Tampa Bay
The Tampa Bay Health & Medical Preparedness Coalition brings healthcare and emergency preparedness partners together across nine counties. Through collaboration, planning, training, and shared resources, the coalition works to strengthen preparedness and response throughout the region.
