DESCRIPTION:The Florida Patient Care Protection Act (HB 355) was passed this year and signed into law by Governor DeSantis\, requiring all hospital emergency departments (including off-campus emergency departments) to meet minimum pediatric emergency standards. It includes requiring every hospital ED to implement pediatric-specific policies and training\, designate a Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator (PECC)\, complete the National Pediatric Readiness Assessment\, and ensure their comprehensive emergency management plans address pediatric and neonatal patients.
