The basic CRT training provides a comprehensive study of the elements of the crisis response while also offering practical experience through exercises and skills implementation. Based on a widely accepted model of psychological first aid developed by NOVA\, this training allows individuals to respond directly to community and individual crises.

Participants will be able to demonstrate effective\nstrategies of communication with people who are deaf or hard of hearing by:\n Explaining how effective communication reduces trauma to victims during events\, emergencies\, or disasters;\n Outlining effective communication prior to\, during\, and after incidents of public safety involving people including\nthose with other access and functional needs;\n Comparing various sub-groups and their communication needs;\n Recognizing and avoiding legal and safety missteps;\n Demonstrating how to deal with stress from communication barriers when assisting people who are deaf or hard of\nhearing.
